Perming Hair at Home

Here are some facts and guidelines about perming your hair. A perm is a hair style that produces long spiral, short, or wavy curls, that adds volume and fullness to the hair. A perm can be used on long or short hair. Read all the instructions at least twice, learn and understand the procedure, before putting it into practise. All perming lotions are based with chemicals that could be dangerous and harmful to the hair and skin. When learning about perming the hair, it is advised that a skin and hair test be taken, and wait patiently for the results which takes up to 24 hours. These test are very important, they are there to help you, as the results could show you have an allergies against the chemicals, or that the perming lotion is too strong for your hair and could cause a lot of damage. If you are considering a complete new look, using a colour and a perm, the colour must be applied first, and a wait of three week to four weeks is advised before having the perm. Different size rollers can be used depending on the type of curl you want to achieve, many clients with long hair, tend to go for the spiral perm, to give a longer spiral effect to the curl, short bobbed hair go for the tighter curl, to give a bouncy and fuller appearance.
