The thought of losing a breast creates more fear in women than any other disease; this fear can keep us from consulting a doctor. It also changes our personality, and interrupting our everyday routine, adding, stress, anxiety, worry, mood swings from sadness to anger. Finding a lump in the breast does not mean it has to be cancer, a lump could just be an accumulation of fat cells, blocked duct, or a cyst. Detecting a lump in its early stages, can reduce the chances of losing a breast or one’s life.
Examine yourself for breast cancer should be a procedure that carried out every month; this procedure will not only detect any lump but will give a self awareness of one’s own body. The breast will undergo changes through the menstrual cycle, you may find that the breast will become hard, or lumpy, the breast may also become tender. Self examination becomes harder to detect any abnormal lumps because of this factor. Self examination is a positive way to get to know our body, and understanding any differences between the breasts, this procedure will help us notice if there are any changes.
